Wink AI Outpainting is a browser-based image expansion tool from Meitu Inc., founded in 2008. It is designed for creators, brands, e-commerce designers, photographers, and other users who need additional canvas or background space for publishing and layout work. Users can upload JPG or PNG images, then extend the image using preset aspect ratios such as 16:9 and 9:16 or by expanding freely in any direction. The tool can also expand multiple edges at once while keeping the original image within the enlarged canvas.
Its freemium structure makes the product accessible for basic outpainting. The Free plan costs 0 USD per month and includes basic AI tools, limited AI generations with Credits, and watermarked exports. Standard provides 1,000 Credits per month, valid for 1 month, along with premium image and video AI tools and no watermarks. Pro increases the allowance to 4,000 Credits per month, also valid for 1 month, with the same premium tools and watermark-free exports. Standard and Pro are web-only plans, so the paid tiers add capacity and export benefits without changing the delivery platform.
The standout feature is control over how the canvas grows: users can select common portrait or landscape ratios, direct expansion toward any edge, or expand several edges simultaneously. That makes Wink AI Outpainting suitable for adapting an existing image to different publishing layouts while retaining the source image in the result. The product is a good fit for users who want straightforward, browser-based outpainting and can work within JPG or PNG input and credit-based generation limits. Users who need a non-web workflow, broader input-format coverage, or watermark-free exports on the free plan should choose an alternative.
