Our verdict on WEB.DE Mail
WEB.DE Mail is a personal email service for people who want webmail, mobile apps and access through desktop mail clients. Its FreeMail plan combines 1 GB of email storage, 4 GB of online storage and two email addresses, with contacts, calendar and file storage among the service's features. Access is available on the web, Android and iOS, while IMAP and POP3 support let users connect desktop clients such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Windows Mail. This makes it a fit for someone who wants a German email service without being tied to a single app.
The plans chiefly differ in storage, attachment size and inbox experience. FreeMail allows attachments up to 20 MB. MailPlus costs €3.99 per month and raises email storage to 5 GB, allows attachments up to 100 MB, adds email addresses and removes inbox ads. WEB.DE Club costs €6.49 per month, with 10 GB of email storage, 100 MB attachments, growing email storage and an ad-free inbox. Club 100 costs €7.99 per month and adds 100 GB of online storage to the Club features. Choose based on whether larger attachments, extra addresses or more file storage justify the monthly price.
Beyond mail, WEB.DE includes contacts and calendar, push notifications, optional email encryption, and spam and virus filtering. Those additions make it more than a bare inbox, while IMAP and POP3 help it fit into existing desktop-client habits. The service also describes custom-domain email through a separate domain offering, so that is not the same as an included plan feature. WEB.DE Mail suits people who value German email, multiple access options and a free starting tier; people who need attachments above 20 MB, additional addresses or an ad-free inbox should consider a paid plan. Those seeking included custom-domain email should review the separate offering before choosing.
