Our verdict on WaveEditor
WaveEditor is an Android audio recorder and editor for musicians, podcasters, professionals and hobbyists. It records through a device or USB microphone, edits and mixes multiple tracks, supports waveform zooming and timeline selection, and converts files between supported formats. Its workflow also includes undo and redo, copy and paste, and single-sample editing, making it suited to users who want detailed control on a mobile device.
The free version includes advertising and supports the core recording, editing, multitrack, waveform and conversion workflows. The published Pro description presents a one-time in-app upgrade that removes ads, unlocks all audio effects and adds a recorder widget. Pro effects include EQ, reverb, compression, normalization and time stretching. WaveEditor’s standout technical depth is its visual analysis set: FFT, oscilloscope, spectrogram and vectorscope views give users several ways to inspect audio beyond the waveform itself.
WaveEditor fits solo users and small teams working within an Android-only deployment, with import and export across AIFF, FLAC, MP3, OGG, PCM and WAV. Email and documentation are the listed support channels. The narrow mobile platform limits its fit for people who need desktop or cross-platform projects, while effect processing requires Pro. Choose WaveEditor when waveform precision, multitrack work, USB recording and technical analysis matter on Android; choose an alternative when broader platform coverage or a simpler, less technical editing workflow is the priority.
