WalnutsHR review
A structured HR hub for small teams, with strong records and workflow coverage.

WalnutsHR is a cloud HR platform for small and mid-sized teams that have outgrown spreadsheets but do not need broad enterprise HR software. It centralizes employee records, manager chains, time-off balances and approvals, onboarding checklists, document storage, organizational charts and reporting. The product can also work alongside an existing payroll provider, making it a fit for teams seeking a dedicated people-operations system rather than a replacement for every HR function.
The published plans show a straightforward structure. Pro costs CAD 10 per user per month with monthly billing and includes unlimited employees, time-off management, document storage, advanced reporting, CSV and PDF exports, and an org chart. Enterprise includes all Pro features and adds SSO and SAML integration, dedicated support, a custom SLA, custom integrations, and extended audit log retention and export. A 30-day trial provides time to assess the workflows before committing to a paid plan.
WalnutsHR’s strongest area is structured people administration. Searchable profiles, role history, manager chains, self-service onboarding, role-based document storage, team calendars, headcount reporting, access controls and audit logs give small teams a clear operating base. REST API and webhook support provide an integration path, although the overall ecosystem is centered on those developer interfaces. Teams that need employee records, time off, onboarding and reporting should find the feature scope relevant. Organizations requiring performance management, broader built-in integrations or a more expansive HR suite should consider an alternative.
