Our verdict on VRL Cam
VRL Cam is an iPhone and iPad app for AR VTubing and virtual camera production. It imports VRM avatars from Files, AirDrop, or iCloud Drive, uses ARKit face tracking with TrueDepth cameras, and tracks camera position and rotation. The product suits VTubers, indie filmmakers, and virtual-production teams that want to broadcast, record, or send camera and motion data from an iOS device.
The Free plan includes all app features, including recording, NDI, HDMI, SRT, and LiDAR. VRL Link costs US$4.99 per month and adds a hosted relay for connecting a remote performer over the internet. Pro costs US$49.99 per year and includes VRL Link plus a commercial-use license. This gives individual creators a low-cost way to access the core app, while commercial users have a specific paid tier for licensing needs.
VRL Cam’s main strength is its range of production outputs: NDI video input and output, VMC/OSC, FreeD, SRT, SRTLA, HDMI, and VRL Link. Warudo integration is available through a Workshop plugin, and composited AR performances can be recorded with audio to Photos. Its focus is narrower than a full avatar-tracking suite: body, hand, and lip tracking are outside its stated tracking focus, and the app is limited to iOS. Choose VRL Cam for iPhone-based AR broadcasting, remote relay, and virtual-camera workflows; choose an alternative if you need broader tracking coverage or non-iOS support.
