Our verdict on Vocury
Vocury is an iPhone app for people who need live speech translation, whether in a one-speaker exchange, a face-to-face conversation, or while following audio in another app. It transcribes speech, translates it in real time, and can play translated text aloud. The vendor lists more than 30 supported languages and describes travel, business conversations, and video or audio in another language as use cases. Its focus is practical: translating speech as it happens rather than providing a broader language-learning tool.
A notable distinction is the option to display translated subtitles over audio from third-party apps. Vocury lists YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok integrations, alongside microphone translation and two-way conversation mode. Users can also share and replay translations, with transcript history listed as supported. These features make it relevant for both direct conversations and listening to app content in another language. The app is mobile-only on iOS, so it is not a fit for people who need desktop access or another mobile platform.
