Our verdict on Viu
Viu is an over-the-top streaming service centered on Asian dramas, films, variety shows, lifestyle programming and Viu Originals. Its free tier lets viewers stream selected content with advertising, while Premium is aimed at viewers who want access to all content and additional viewing features. The focus makes it a fit for people seeking this programming mix rather than a broad, general-purpose streaming catalog. Service and subscription availability vary by territory, so the experience on offer depends on the local market.
The free tier is the clearest starting point: selected programming is available with ads, while Premium provides access to all content and viewing without ad breaks. Premium also supports downloads of selected dramas, variety shows and films for offline viewing, and selected content is available in HD. Viu's Indonesia subscription update gives a monthly price of IDR 55,000; that amount is territory-specific and should not be treated as a universal price. The published features make Premium most relevant to regular viewers who value fewer interruptions or offline access, rather than viewers who only want occasional free streaming.
Viu supports web, iOS and Android, with access also described for selected smart TVs and mobile devices. A Thailand-specific HBO Max bundle is offered, with availability and pricing dependent on territory. Those market-by-market limits matter for buyers comparing services across regions: the catalog, plan terms and bundle options are not uniform. Choose Viu for its Asian entertainment focus and the option to start free; look elsewhere if your priority is an unrestricted free catalog, a known local price before checking your market, or a service centered on programming outside that focus.
