Visionaire Studio review
A focused adventure engine with visual tools, Lua scripting, and one-time publishing licenses.

Visionaire Studio is a game engine for creating story-driven 2D and 2.5D point-and-click adventure games. Its visual workflow covers scene and hotspot editing, branching dialogue with choices, portraits and lip sync, inventory, item combinations, puzzles, characters, animation, localization, and audio. Adventure-game creators can also use 2D and 3D characters, parallax scrolling, particles, shader effects, Lua scripting, and plugins. The engine supports Windows, macOS, Linux, HTML5, iOS, Android, and supported consoles, making it suitable for teams planning a narrative title across multiple platforms.
Pricing is structured around one-time euro-denominated licenses. The Free version is freeware and supports Windows, macOS, and Linux downloads, with projects limited to 25 scenes. The €75 PRO License adds full engine access and unlimited projects, but commercial publishing requires a separate distribution license. Desktop Distribution costs €99 for one commercial title across Windows, macOS, and Linux, with PRO development access included. Mobile Distribution costs €249 and adds desktop, HTML5, iOS, and Android publishing. Console Distribution is €650 for one commercial title across desktop, mobile, and supported consoles, while Complete Distribution costs €850 and includes physical retail. These tiers let creators match publishing rights to their release plans.
Its strongest fit is a focused adventure workflow rather than a general-purpose engine for every game genre. Visual systems handle the core building blocks of point-and-click design, while Lua and plugins provide a path for custom behavior. Steam API and GOG API support platform integration, and localization tools cover multilingual text and audio. Choose Visionaire Studio if your project centers on narrative exploration, dialogue, inventory, and puzzles, especially when multi-platform export matters. Choose an alternative if your priority is outside this adventure-game focus or if your production requires a different engine workflow.
