Our verdict on Virgilio Mail
Virgilio Mail is a personal email service from Italiaonline S.p.A., with webmail and apps for iOS, Android and Huawei. It is suited to people who want a free mailbox alongside multi-account management, folders, and integrated cloud storage. The unified inbox brings added accounts together, while DriveMail supports large-file sharing. Two-step verification and filtering for spam, phishing, viruses and malware add account and message protections. Outlook, Apple Mail and Thunderbird are among the supported email clients for paid Mail Plus plans.
The free plan provides the core email service, but it is not ad-free. According to the vendor's pricing page, Mail Plus Zero costs €12.99 per year, billed annually, and removes advertising while retaining existing mailbox storage; it also includes priority support. Mail Plus 100 GB costs €39.99 per year, billed annually, and removes advertising while providing 100 GB total mailbox storage. It also includes access through supported email clients and priority support. The plans are presented with VAT included. The published choices make the tradeoff clear: pay the lower annual price to remove ads, or choose the higher tier for more storage and client access.
Virgilio Mail's strongest fit is for personal users who value a free starting point, phone apps and one place to manage multiple accounts. Its cloud features and standard client support offer useful flexibility, while the two-step verification and filtering cover common email risks. The paid upgrades are relatively focused on advertising, storage and priority support rather than a broad set of distinct capabilities. Choose another service if a larger mailbox is essential without moving to a higher paid tier, or if ad-free use at no cost is a requirement. For users comfortable with ads on the free plan, or with annual payment for the specific Mail Plus benefits, Virgilio Mail combines everyday email with mobile and cloud tools.
