Vali is a cloud-based accounting platform for South African small businesses and bookkeeping practices. It brings double-entry accounting together with customer invoices and credit notes, supplier bills, contacts, document storage and VAT reporting. Practices can manage multiple client companies from one login, with client data isolated, while businesses can use the core accounting and invoicing tools for one company. Its South African tax workflows make it particularly relevant to bookkeepers handling client VAT records.

For practices, Bookkeeping Practice includes multi-client management and bookkeeper mode. The vendor's practices page states a wholesale client-account price of R299.40 per client per month, 40% below retail; the pricing page lists Accounting For Business at R499 per month. A free plan is available, and a 30-day free trial is listed without a required card. The wholesale account can suit firms managing client books, while a business that needs one company's accounting tools may prefer the business plan. Annual billing is described as forthcoming.

Bank activity is handled through CSV statement imports and transaction matching, with reconciliation against cashbook and general-ledger entries by manual tick-off or statement matching. Bank feeds are planned, not currently documented as available, and automated reconciliation is not included. Receipt images can be scanned into draft bills for review, and recurring invoices can be created from templates on a schedule. Inventory covers stock, batches, serial numbers and warehouse locations, but those features are marked beta. Choose Vali when South African VAT reporting and client-company management are central; businesses that depend on bank feeds, automated reconciliation or mature inventory workflows should consider alternatives.

  • Where it doesn't
    • Bank transactions are imported by CSV; bank feeds are planned.
    • Reconciliation uses manual tick-off or statement matching, not automation.
    • Inventory tracking features are marked beta.
