uniCenta oPOS is an open-source point-of-sale system for retailers, restaurants, cafés, bars, supermarkets, and other hospitality or venue businesses. The free GNU GPL3 release includes broad POS capabilities, including barcode scanning, product lookup, inventory management, employee access levels, sales reporting, refunds, layaways, split receipts, and partial payments. It supports web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, making it suitable for businesses operating across different devices and store environments.
Pricing separates the free software from paid subscriptions for support, downloads, documentation, updates, and hosted access. BASE costs £6 per month when billed annually and includes downloads, source code, update notifications, web reporting, remote order display, and standard forum support. PLUS costs £12 per month on annual billing and adds priority forum support to the same listed features. HOSTED costs £15 per month on annual billing and adds hosted access, browser access, iPad and Android tablet support, daily backups, automatic upgrades, and a web firewall. Businesses wanting managed access rather than self-managed software should choose HOSTED; those comfortable with open-source deployment can consider the free release or the lower paid tiers.
Feature breadth is a central strength. uniCenta oPOS covers multi-store and multi-warehouse operations, restaurant tables, reservations, kitchen printing, financial and employee reports, web reporting, and customer, order, and product APIs. Listed integrations include WooCommerce, PaymentSense, Teya, and Dejavoo. That range suits businesses combining retail or hospitality workflows with inventory and reporting needs. However, organizations seeking a narrowly focused POS with hosted access included at every tier, or relying on specific hardware beyond third-party peripherals, may prefer an alternative. uniCenta is the stronger fit for buyers who value open-source access and broad operational coverage.
