A focused open-source toolkit for inspecting and exporting Unreal game assets.

UE Viewer is an open-source desktop utility for viewing and extracting resources from Unreal Engine games. It is aimed at modders, technical artists, researchers, and developers who need to inspect game packages or export assets for further work. The tool supports packages from more than 300 games across Unreal Engine generations, with Windows and Linux builds. Its viewing features cover skeletal meshes with animations, vertex meshes, static meshes, and supported materials with their internal structure.
Its strongest advantage is the breadth of resources it can export. UE Viewer handles skeletal, vertex, and static meshes, animations, textures in TGA and DDS formats, sounds, ScaleForm resources, and FaceFX resources. It also extracts packages from PAK and OBB files, and its supported formats include UPK, XXX, UKX, UMAP, PAK, OBB, PSK, PSA, PSKX, MD5MESH, MD5ANIM, glTF, TGA, DDS, and MAT. Both graphical and command-line workflows are available, giving Windows users a visual option alongside terminal-based operation.
The main trade-off is platform and feature scope. Linux support is command-line only, so users seeking a graphical Linux workflow should look elsewhere. Material inspection applies to supported materials rather than every asset, and the product is specifically centered on Unreal Engine package viewing and extraction. UE Viewer is a strong fit when the goal is to inspect or export Unreal resources across many games; it is less suitable for broader, engine-agnostic modding workflows or users who need a polished graphical experience on Linux.
