Our verdict on Ubook
Ubook is a digital content streaming service for consumers who want audiobooks and ebooks alongside other media. Its catalog also includes podcasts, narrated series, documentaries, newspapers, magazines and music. Free accounts provide selected free content, while subscribers can access a broader catalog through the web, iOS and Android apps. Cross-device synchronization, narration-speed controls, favorite passage marking, a kids interface and supported offline downloads make it suitable for households mixing listening and reading.
The published plans show Premium and Premium+. Premium includes unlimited access to the Premium catalog and offline downloads. Premium+ includes everything in Premium, plus one additional book per month and one partner super app. A 30-day free trial is available, and the starting price is 16.49. The annual prices are displayed as 12 monthly installments. Catalog availability and plan options may vary by geographic location, marketplace and plan, so the subscription's value depends on which content and options are available to a particular user.
Ubook's main distinction is breadth rather than a narrow audiobook-only focus. The combination of audio, ebooks, periodicals, documentaries and podcasts can suit people who want one subscription for varied digital entertainment. It also offers practical playback and access features, including synchronization and offline use, though downloads are not DRM-free. Choose Ubook if you want mixed audio and reading content across web and mobile devices, with a free entry point and subscription access. An audiobook listener seeking DRM-free files or a narrowly focused audiobook service should consider an alternative instead.
