Our verdict on Tuner by Piascore
Tuner by Piascore is a chromatic instrument tuner and pitch pipe for iPhone and iPad. It is designed for musicians tuning guitars, basses, bowed strings, woodwinds, brass instruments, piano, timpani, and other instruments that sustain a tone. The app uses the device microphone for pitch detection and presents tuning information through a needle meter, LED high/low indicator, fine-tuning view, and power spectrum display. Its focused design suits iPhone and iPad users who want more than a basic note detector.
The published plan structure is straightforward: the Full version costs $4.99 USD as a one-time purchase, with no recurring plan described. That purchase includes the needle meter display, pitch pipe and tone generator, selectable temperaments, and automatic reference-note calibration. The app also supports a 50-cent fine-tuning range, transposition, selectable notation including solfège, and chromatic pitch detection. A separate free Lite version is offered by the vendor, while country-specific App Store pricing may vary.
Its main strength is breadth within tuning rather than a narrow single-instrument workflow. Selectable temperaments, custom reference-pitch calibration, transposition, and multiple display modes give players several ways to adapt the tuner to different instruments and musical contexts. The trade-off is platform scope: Tuner by Piascore is distributed for iOS, so it is a natural choice for iPhone and iPad users but less suitable for musicians who need Android or desktop access. Choose it for a paid, feature-focused Apple-device tuner; consider another app if a strobe display or broader platform coverage is essential.
