TraceRoot review
TraceRoot connects agent tracing, evaluations, and automated root-cause fixes.

TraceRoot is an open-source observability and debugging layer for teams operating AI agents in production. It captures LLM calls, tool invocations, agent steps, and reasoning activity, then evaluates production traces for hallucinations, tool failures, safety issues, and intent drift. Developers can use its Python or TypeScript SDKs, hosted cloud usage, or self-hosted deployment across web and API environments.
Its ecosystem fit is a central strength. TraceRoot uses OpenTelemetry-based tracing and supports instrumentation for Agno, AutoGen, Claude Agent SDK, CrewAI, DSPy, Google ADK, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Mastra, OpenAI Agents SDK, Pydantic AI, and Vercel AI SDK. It also lists Anthropic integration, along with Slack and email alerts for detector findings. This gives teams several paths to connect existing agent frameworks while retaining tracing, detector evaluations, and alerting in one workflow.
The standout capability is the link between detector findings and source-level debugging. TraceRoot can analyze production source code and Git history, then generate automated fix pull requests; golden datasets and offline evaluations extend the workflow beyond live monitoring. The Free plan includes Discord support, detector alerts in Slack, and BYOK or hosted LLM access. Starter adds unlimited seats, Pro adds higher rate limits and Discord plus Slack support, and Enterprise adds SLA support. Teams wanting trace-driven investigation and automated remediation should consider TraceRoot; teams seeking only basic logging or a narrowly focused tracing tool may prefer a simpler option.
TraceRoot pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Traces LLM calls, tools, and agent steps with OpenTelemetry
- Analyzes production source code and Git history for root causes
- Creates automated fix pull requests and supports offline evaluations
- Where it doesn't
- Paid-tier value is harder to compare across the published plan structure
- Automated fixes depend on access to source code and Git history
- Detector support channels vary by plan
