Our verdict on Tolk
Tolk is a browser-based interpreter for face-to-face conversations, designed for people who need to communicate across languages while sharing one screen. Each person can speak or type on their side; translated text appears on the other side and can be read aloud in the selected language. It may suit travel, work, healthcare, service-counter and home conversations where both participants can access a phone, tablet or computer browser. Tolk lists 23 languages and is cloud-based, rather than an installed app.
The shared-screen format is its defining strength: it keeps both participants in the same exchange, with speech input, text input and spoken translations. According to the published plans, the Trial provides 10 minutes free across all languages. Travel costs €4.99 per month and includes 80 minutes monthly, together-on-one-screen use and no ads. Plus costs €14.99 per month and includes 160 minutes, saved conversation transcripts and priority at busy times.
