Our verdict on Text Editor Pro

Text Editor Pro is a free desktop text editor for Windows, aimed at solo users and small teams who want coding and file utilities in one application. Syntax highlighting covers programming languages and scripts, while multi-caret and synchronized editing, folding, column editing and macro recording support more involved editing workflows. The vendor offers 32-bit, 64-bit and ARM 64-bit versions, as well as portable archives alongside installers.

Its breadth is the main draw: users can compare text, search across files and directories, format JSON, SQL and XML, and convert JSON and XML. Spell checking and previews for Markdown, RTF and SVG extend it beyond source editing, while image and PDF viewing add file-inspection tools. AI chat is also included. Directory browsing can work with optional SFTP support, so the editor may suit Windows users who move among code, structured data and documents without wanting a separate tool for each task.

The trade-off is platform scope: Text Editor Pro is Windows-only, so it is not a fit for teams that need a shared editor across operating systems.
