Terrano replaces Minecraft Java Edition’s Overworld generator with terrain shaped by continent and climate maps. It is aimed at players who want to customize the broad shape and surface character of a world while keeping familiar biomes, caves, ores, and structures. Its generation can include mountain ranges, valleys, rivers, lakes, wetlands, and volcanoes, alongside custom erosion, geological layers, snow, trees, and mushrooms. The mod is free and supports Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.

Preset choice and editing are central to Terrano’s appeal. It includes five world-generation presets, lets players build custom presets in an editor, and saves those profiles as JSON. A preview uses the current seed, giving players a way to inspect a preset’s terrain before committing to a world. Optional bridges can bring in compatible biomes from other mods through TerraBlender or Lithostitched. That makes Terrano a fit for players who want to tune large-scale terrain or combine it with supported biome additions, rather than simply install a fixed terrain overhaul.

The scope is deliberately limited to the Overworld: Terrano does not replace Nether or End generation. Its listed compatibility is also narrow, covering Minecraft 1.21.1 and the Fabric and NeoForge loaders. Setup instructions specify installation on both the server and connecting clients, so it is not just a server-side world setting. Players should choose Terrano for configurable Overworld terrain and seed previews; those seeking another Minecraft version, loader support beyond those two, or changes to all dimensions should look elsewhere.

  • Where it doesn't
    • Supports Minecraft 1.21.1 only
    • Limited to Fabric and NeoForge
    • Changes the Overworld, not the Nether or End
