Terralith changes Minecraft Java Edition's Overworld generation through a free mod or datapack. It is aimed at players who want a broad change to the landscape rather than a terrain-only adjustment: it adds more than 95 biomes, updates many vanilla biomes, and generates custom caves and structures such as fortified villages and glacial huts. Its scope is the Overworld, so players looking for additional-dimension terrain generation should choose a different option.
Its breadth extends across several terrain types, including canyons, floating islands and deep ocean trenches. The mod version adds configuration options for structures, skylands and terrain slabs, and supports superflat, single-biome, large-biome and amplified world types. Those options make the mod version the more configurable choice; players preferring datapacks can still use Terralith, but the listed configuration controls are specifically for the mod.
Terralith is available for Minecraft versions 26.3, 26.2, 26.1.x, 1.21.x, 1.20.x, 1.19.x and 1.18.2, with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt support as well as datapack availability. It supports singleplayer and server-side play. The project recommends starting a new world and warns against removing Terralith from an existing one, so it is a better fit for a planned world-generation overhaul than for changing an established world. Choose it for variety across the Overworld; skip it if additional dimensions or mid-world removal are central requirements.
