TaxTron T2 review
A desktop T2 solution for federal and Alberta returns on Windows or macOS.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
TaxTron T2 prepares Canadian corporate income tax returns for business owners and tax professionals. It supports federal and Alberta corporate returns on Windows and macOS, with forms-based preparation, CRA autofill, GIFI imports from accounting software, electronic filing, and diagnostic checks. Its feature set also covers associated corporations, loss carrybacks and carryforwards, T1135 electronic submission, eDocs, and complex corporate schedules.
The published plans divide the product between single-return and professional use. The Windows and Macintosh Single License editions support one corporate return per year and include federal and Alberta preparation, CRA autofill, GIFI import, and electronic filing features. The Windows and Macintosh Professional editions add unlimited corporate returns, GIFI import from accounting software, Corporate Internet Filing, Alberta filing, and a diagnostic auditor. The current-year software is free to download, while a license is required to print or electronically file a corporate return. Professional editions require an EFILE number.
TaxTron T2 fits small Canadian firms that want desktop tax preparation with a choice of Windows or Mac and a workflow connected to CRA autofill and accounting software through GIFI import. Its jurisdiction focus is narrow: the published coverage is federal and Alberta, and Quebec CO-17 preparation is not supported. That makes it a practical choice for businesses and professionals whose filing needs match those jurisdictions, while firms handling Quebec returns or broader jurisdictional requirements should choose a product with the necessary coverage. Single licenses suit one-return annual use; professionals managing multiple corporate returns should look to the Professional edition.
