TaxMile is an iPhone mileage-tracking app for freelancers, contractors, gig workers and others who claim vehicle expenses. It focuses on mileage records rather than broader tax deduction management: users start and stop trips manually, categorize drives and apply editable US IRS or Canadian CRA rates. Business, medical, charity and personal categories are available, and users can add past trips manually. The app stores trip data on the iPhone without an account or cloud sync, which suits people who want a local mileage log and do not need shared records across devices.
The free plan includes unlimited trip recording and manual entries, custom categories and rates, route maps, trip history and three individual trip exports per month. Pro Monthly costs $2.99 USD per month; Pro Yearly costs $14.99 USD per year. Both paid plans add unlimited CSV exports, unlimited PDF reports and filters by date range, category or client. Each has a one-week free trial. The pricing page displays USD, while localized App Store prices may vary by region. For occasional mileage logging, the free plan covers core recording; Pro is relevant when regular exports or filtered reports matter.
Recording is deliberately manual: a one-tap start and stop shows live distance, speed, elapsed time and an estimated deduction, and recording continues while the phone is locked. TaxMile uses trip dates to account for mid-year rate changes, and Apple Maps is its listed integration. Its narrow scope is the main trade-off: there is no automatic trip detection, receipt capture or expense tracking. Choose it for an iPhone-based mileage log with editable categories and straightforward exports; choose a broader tool if you need expenses, receipts, automatic trip capture or cloud syncing.
