Super Famicast is a standalone Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator for the Sega Dreamcast. It is aimed at Dreamcast users who run homebrew software and want to load SNES ROMs from CDs. The emulator supports ROM disc swapping, SRAM saves to Dreamcast VMUs, configurable display settings, controller configuration for up to four players, and themes with background music. It is distributed as public source code under the GPL-2.0 license and uses the KallistiOS development library.

Its strongest area is direct console-focused emulation. ROM loading from CD provides the core workflow, while SRAM saving to VMU gives supported games persistent save data. Automatic SRAM checks every 30 seconds add a defined save-management behavior. Bilinear filtering, configurable frame skipping, adjustable screen positioning and size, and shader support provide control over how games are displayed. The standalone backend keeps the product centered on Dreamcast hardware rather than a broader multi-platform ecosystem.

Super Famicast is a good fit for Dreamcast homebrew users who specifically want SNES emulation on that console and value open-source software. Its scope is intentionally narrow: the supported platform is Sega Dreamcast, and the documented port is based on Snes9x v1.42. Users looking for newer emulator capabilities or features such as verified rewind, cheats, or netplay should choose an alternative with those functions. For a Dreamcast-based setup built around CD loading, VMU saves, four-player configuration, and adjustable display controls, Super Famicast offers a focused feature set.
