StyleWriter review
A Windows Word editor with deep readability, style, and word-choice analysis.

StyleWriter is Windows desktop proofreading and editing software for writers, students, businesses, government teams, journalists, and professional editors. It analyzes Microsoft Word documents for spelling issues, jargon, wordiness, passive and hidden verbs, and long or complex sentences. The software also provides readability and writing statistics, audience- and task-specific analysis, custom style categories, and house-style rules. Its focus is clear, readable English rather than broad document collaboration or plain-language rewriting.
Pricing is split between annual subscriptions and one-time editions. The Starter Edition Subscription costs $50 per year and covers plain English proofreading and editing. Standard Edition Subscription costs $70 per year and adds advanced readability statistics and graphs, full customization, and writing-statistics records. Professional Edition Subscription costs $90 per year and adds the Editor’s List for word-choice analysis, with word lists sortable by alphabet or frequency. One-time prices are $90 for Starter, $150 for Standard, and $190 for Professional. A 14-day free trial is available.
StyleWriter’s strongest fit is for Windows editors who work in Microsoft Word and need more than basic spelling correction. The higher editions are relevant when readability reporting, house-style control, or word-frequency analysis matters, while Starter keeps the scope focused on proofreading and editing advice. The trade-off is a narrow platform and integration footprint: platform coverage is Windows-only, and Microsoft Word is the listed integration. Organizations working across other operating systems or seeking collaborative, browser-based editing should choose a different type of tool. StyleWriter is better suited to individual professionals and teams with established Word-based workflows.
