Stripe Managed Payments review
A focused MoR layer for Stripe businesses selling eligible digital products.

Stripe Managed Payments is a merchant-of-record service for businesses selling software subscriptions, digital content and virtual goods internationally. It handles indirect tax calculation, collection, filing and remittance in supported jurisdictions, while also covering fraud prevention, dispute management and transaction-level customer support through Link. The service is designed for companies already operating in Stripe's ecosystem and can be applied to selected transactions, markets or products rather than the entire business.
The pricing model is straightforward but sits on top of standard Stripe costs. The Managed Payments plan charges 3.5% per successful transaction, in addition to standard Stripe processing fees. That single plan includes the merchant-of-record service, indirect tax handling, fraud prevention, dispute management and transaction-level customer support. For businesses selling internationally, the fee bundles several operational responsibilities into a transaction-based model. Its support for one-time and subscription purchases also makes it relevant to both digital goods and recurring software revenue.
Platform fit is a central strength. Managed Payments works with Stripe Checkout, Payment Links and Billing, and connects with Stripe Sigma and Link. Checkout supports multiple languages and currencies, while the service can handle eligible transactions across 80 countries. That makes it a practical choice for Stripe users who want selective tax and commerce coverage without changing their existing payment stack. It is less suitable for businesses outside Stripe, products that do not meet eligibility requirements, or companies seeking broader coverage beyond supported jurisdictions. Buyers should also account for the additional transaction fee when comparing it with alternatives.
