StizzyBee Performance Overlay is an open-source Windows desktop utility for gamers who want an always-on-top view of frame rates and hardware activity. It runs as a portable standalone executable with folder-based settings, and is aimed at solo users and small setups using Windows 10 or 11 64-bit. The overlay can sit over borderless or windowed games while showing average, lowest, highest, 1% low and 0.1% low FPS, frame time, and sensors for GPU, CPU, RAM, temperatures, clocks, power and fan speed.

Its main strength is depth of presentation control. Users can select which metrics appear, reorder or rename labels, add optional live mini-graphs, and adjust colors, fonts, opacity and layout. The overlay window can be dragged, locked or made click-through, while a global Ctrl+Shift+O hotkey and system-tray controls handle visibility. These options make it suitable for comparing performance behavior, monitoring thermals and tailoring a compact display to different games without installing a larger hardware-monitoring suite. Optional DLL injection mode adds frame-present capture for supported games when the standard overlay does not provide the desired data.

The trade-off is platform and rendering coverage. The utility targets Windows only, and its documented caveats include exclusive-fullscreen, Vulkan and OpenGL scenarios. DLL injection also introduces a separate operating mode rather than a universal capture path. Choose StizzyBee Performance Overlay if you value portable deployment, open-source code and detailed, customizable overlay metrics on Windows. Consider another counter if you need one tool spanning multiple operating systems or consistent coverage across every fullscreen and graphics API configuration.

StizzyBee Performance Overlay pros and cons

  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows-only support limits cross-platform use
    • Exclusive-fullscreen, Vulkan and OpenGL coverage have caveats
    • Optional DLL injection is needed for additional frame-present capture
