StillWren is a browser-based transcription tool for lawyers and legal teams. It handles live microphone recordings, audio and video uploads, client meetings, depositions, dictation, and lawfully obtained hearing recordings. Its core workflow combines speaker diarization, speaker renaming, word-level timestamps, transcript editing, search, redaction, translation, and exports to DOCX, PDF, TXT, SRT, and other formats. The product is suited to privacy-conscious professionals who want transcription that runs on their own device.
The free plan is unusually substantial for individual use: it includes full transcription, transcript exports, and 50 minutes per month without an account or 300 minutes per month with a free account. A 14-day free trial is also available. Pro adds unlimited minutes, the on-device AI legal suite, encrypted sync, and mobile handoff. The AI tools can generate matter memos, summaries, deadlines, time entries, and transcript-based chat, while optional end-to-end encrypted sync supports continuity across devices. Users should choose Pro when monthly volume or cross-device access matters; occasional transcribers may find the free limits sufficient.
Privacy is the central differentiator. Transcription can run locally, offline use is available after model download, and rule-based redaction can target personal identifiers. Speaker identification, timestamp controls, transcript search, and multiple export formats support review and document preparation, but teams should still assess whether the workflow matches their own legal retention and sharing requirements. StillWren is a strong fit for lawyers and legal teams prioritizing local processing and flexible exports. Organizations that require established legal practice-management integrations or formal legal formatting workflows should compare alternatives before adopting it broadly.
