Squarepay is an Australian payment-collection platform for businesses that need recurring Direct Debit payments, PayTo agreements and PayID transfers. It supports SMEs, sole traders and larger businesses through a merchant portal, a secure client portal and integration tools. Direct Debit collection runs from Australian bank accounts, while the client portal supports setting up and maintaining payments. The product is web-based and also available through a REST API.

Pricing is freemium, with a free plan available. The No Commitment plan charges per debit and dishonour, includes two-day settlement and applies a one-off customer fee. Plus reduces the per-debit and dishonour charges and lowers the one-off customer fee. Premium reduces those charges further and removes the one-off customer fee. Enterprise uses tailored pricing for businesses processing more than $100K per month. This structure suits businesses that want to start without a paid subscription and scale fees around payment activity.

Squarepay’s strongest fit is businesses that need both operational payment tools and technical integration options. Webhooks provide payment-event notifications, while the sandbox supports integration testing. Reporting and reconciliation information can help connect collections with finance workflows, and customer SMS or email notifications add communication options. PayTo and PayID broaden the available Australian payment methods beyond recurring Direct Debit. Businesses operating across multiple countries, or those seeking international scheme coverage, should consider an alternative with broader geographic support. Squarepay is a practical choice for Australian collections where low-cost access, recurring payments and API connectivity matter most.
