Split The Bill is a browser-based shared-money app for friends, roommates, travel groups and small businesses. It combines manual bill entry with photo and AI receipt scanning, then assigns items, tracks group balances and calculates fewest-payment settlements. Beyond basic splitting, it covers recurring costs, reminders, hosted invoices, budgets, spending plans, loans, wishlists, reports and CSV/PDF exports. Multiple languages and currencies are supported, while share links let people view and settle a share without installing the app or creating an account.
The free plan costs $0 forever and includes manual bill entry, receipt scans, budgets and recurring bills, CSV import and export, share links and a nine-language interface. It is limited to groups of three members. Pro costs $7 per month or $70 per year, with the annual option advertised as two months free. Pro adds unlimited bills, invoices and wishlists, unlimited AI receipt scans, a chat and voice assistant, unlimited groups and members, reports, plans, rental properties and non-expiring share links. A 14-day refund right applies to EU/UK customers, with annual subscriptions potentially eligible for a prorated refund within 30 days under the refund policy.
For settlement and sharing, Split The Bill connects with PayPal and Revolut and supports MCP clients. Its web platform and browser extension suit groups that want a central workspace rather than a native mobile app. Public or private links broaden participation for people without accounts, and reports plus CSV/PDF exports help with record keeping. The product fits small groups that need more than a one-off split, especially budgets, recurring expenses or invoices. Groups needing native mobile apps, more than three members on the free tier or support beyond email should consider alternatives.
