Our verdict on Spire

Spire is a software polyphonic synthesizer for music producers working in electronic, cinematic and general music-production workflows. Reveal Sound Pty Ltd distributes it as plug-ins for Windows and macOS in AU, AAX, CLAP and VST formats. Its core architecture combines four multimode polymorphing oscillators, analogue and digital filter types, modulation, unison voices, effects, steppers and an arpeggiator. The included factory library contains more than 1,000 sounds spanning arpeggios, basses, leads, pads, plucks, drums and effects, making Spire suitable for producers who want both ready-made starting points and detailed synthesis controls.

The synthesis section is the main reason to consider Spire. Each oscillator supports FM, AMSync, SawPWM, HardFM and Vowel modes, while nine-voice unison per oscillator can broaden patches substantially. Four envelopes, four LFOs and a modulation matrix provide room for evolving movement, and two multimode filters add analogue and digital filter options. Two steppers and an arpeggiator extend the rhythmic side of the instrument, while the built-in shaper, phaser, chorus, delay and reverb effects reduce the need to reach for separate processors during patch development. Preset import, export, tagging and favorites also support a practical browsing workflow, with RS AI preset generation available as an additional feature.

Pricing is straightforward at the standalone level: the Spire Only plan is listed as a one-time $189 purchase and includes the synthesizer and 1,000+ factory sounds. The Spire + Sound Bundle adds a sound bundle, with the official pricing page displaying VAT-related price variants for that option. There is no free plan, although a functional demo is available with periodic noise. Choose Spire if polished subtractive synthesis, extensive modulation and a substantial preset library are priorities. Producers seeking a free instrument or a platform outside Windows and macOS should look elsewhere.
