Our verdict on SonyLIV
SonyLIV brings Sony LIV Originals, television shows, movies and live sports together in a streaming service operated by Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited. Its mix suits viewers looking for Indian programming and tournaments alongside films and series. There is a free plan, as well as paid options; the Mobile Only plan is limited to Android and iOS apps, while LIV Premium offers access across platforms. Web and mobile apps are supported, with connected-TV viewing also described for the service.
The paid plans differ in access, image quality and simultaneous viewing. Mobile Only supports up to 720p HD, offline downloads and one concurrent device. LIV Premium provides access across platforms, up to 4K UHD on eligible content, downloads and either one or two concurrent devices, depending on the plan. SonyLIV also lists a separate Crunchyroll Fan pack, which streams Crunchyroll content only, supports up to 1080p Full HD, offline downloads and one concurrent device. That pack is not included in LIV Premium, so viewers seeking both libraries should account for a separate subscription. Some content may carry advertisements even for paid subscribers.
Offline downloads are available in mobile and tablet apps for eligible content, while multiple profiles support viewing within a household. The main trade-off is that device access and concurrent streams are plan-specific, and the mobile tier does not include cross-platform access. SonyLIV is a fit for viewers who want its combination of Indian shows, films and live sports, particularly if their preferred plan matches their screens and stream needs. Viewers primarily seeking Crunchyroll should compare the separate Fan pack, while those who need broader access than Mobile Only should consider LIV Premium. The service is available through web, iOS and Android, with connected-TV devices also supported.
