SoftPerfect WiFi Guard review
A focused desktop scanner for spotting and tracking unknown network devices.

SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is a desktop application for individuals and small offices that want to see which devices are connected to a Wi-Fi or local network. It scans the local network, lists detected devices, and can notify users when a new or unknown device appears. Windows, macOS, and Linux downloads make it relevant to people who want a simple desktop-based view rather than a broader security suite. Its focus is device discovery and recognition, not assessing whether a device is safe.
The published licence options are all paid and perpetual. Home and Business plans are offered for a single device, up to 5 devices, and up to 10 devices; Business also has a site licence for unlimited devices at one organisation site. The unlimited-duration evaluation displays up to 10 devices, so it is not a free plan and may not show a larger network in full. The product is a better fit for a solo user or small office choosing a one-time licence than for someone seeking a free scanner or a subscription with ongoing service tiers.
Its useful depth is in tracking familiar devices and catching changes: users can mark devices as known, add comments, and receive alerts when new or unknown devices appear. Scheduled interval scans, pings, and detection of firewalled devices that do not respond to ping add visibility, while IP and MAC addresses, names, and vendor information help identify entries. That still leaves a narrow job: WiFi Guard does not perform verified security checks. Choose it to monitor who appears on a local network; choose another type of tool if you need device vulnerability assessment or a wider security review.
