Our verdict on SnekStudio
SnekStudio is a free, open-source VTuber application for creators who want to stream with 3D VRM avatars on Windows or Linux. It loads VRM models and combines MediaPipe camera tracking with 50 facial blendshapes, hand tracking, and microphone-based real-time lip-sync. The application is aimed at users who value an extensible workflow rather than a closed feature set, with additional support for external tracking data and streaming interactions.
Its strongest differentiator is the combination of avatar tracking and extension options without a paid plan structure. SnekStudio supports VMC receiver input for external tracking data, Twitch channel-point integrations, and VRChat OSC. Extensions can be created with GDScript or Godot scenes, giving technically inclined creators a way to adapt the application around their own workflows. The published platform coverage is focused: official builds are available for Windows and Linux, while running the source through Godot on other platforms involves additional setup.
