Our verdict on Smooth Clip
Smooth Clip turns podcasts, interviews, webinars, YouTube uploads, and other long-form recordings into short-form social clips. It is aimed at podcasters, YouTubers, coaches, educators, marketers, agencies, and other creators who want to move from a long recording to publishable social content without a narrow single-purpose workflow. Its core toolkit includes AI best-moment detection, virality scoring, transcript and timeline editing, AI-generated hooks and titles, word-by-word captions, and exports in 9:16, 1:1, and 4:5 formats.
The plan structure gives the product a clear entry point. The Free plan includes unlimited clips with your own API key, AI clip finding, virality scoring, face-tracked 9:16 reframing, captions, and 1080p HD export, with a small watermark. Pro adds watermark removal, 4K and HD rendering, a brand kit, custom caption styles and presets, more than 30 caption languages, B-roll, filler-word removal, and silence removal. Studio is oriented toward teams, adding three seats, shared brand assets, client folders, a workspace, a priority render queue, review and approval flows, roles, and priority support. Annual billing for Pro and Studio offers two months free versus monthly billing.
For distribution, Smooth Clip connects with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and Facebook, supporting publishing and scheduling from its web platform. The standout value is breadth: discovery, editing, formatting, branding, cleanup, and social delivery are grouped into one pipeline. Choose it if your priority is simple automation across multiple social formats and channels. Consider an alternative if you need a desktop application, do not want to manage an API key on the free tier, or require watermark-free output without moving beyond Free.
