SmartConnect Hosted PBX is a cloud-based business phone system for Australian organisations, delivered by HostedPBX.com.au, an authorised reseller of Alltel. It connects IP phones and softphone applications over the internet, with a direct in-dial number for each account, call forwarding, hunt groups, auto attendant and IVR menus. The service is aimed at small offices that need hosted PBX essentials without limiting staff to desk phones. Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android support gives teams several ways to handle calls.

The plan structure moves from basic call handling to broader calling and queue features. Essentials includes call forwarding, on-hold music, busy extension indicators, do not disturb, multi-device linking and a softphone. Unlimited adds unlimited local and national calls, unlimited mobile calls and unlimited 1300 calls. Premium adds call queues, call recording, interactive menus, voicemails and call parking. This makes the tiers relatively easy to distinguish: smaller teams can start with core telephony, while offices needing more structured inbound handling will need the highest tier. Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce are the named integrations.

SmartConnect Hosted PBX is strongest when the priority is conventional business telephony with flexible routing and management tools. Online account management, usage tracking and reporting support administrative oversight, while call queues offer advanced routing options for teams handling shared inbound lines. The main trade-off is its narrow focus: organisations seeking a wider collaboration suite should compare alternatives built around broader messaging, meetings or workplace workflows. It is a sensible fit for offices that want hosted calling, softphones and PBX controls; teams needing extensive ecosystem coverage or collaboration features may prefer a different category of platform.

  • Where it doesn't
    • Call queues and recording are limited to the Premium tier
    • Integrations are limited to Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce
    • The feature set is focused on telephony rather than broader collaboration
