Our verdict on Skillshare
Skillshare is a paid online learning community for creative and curious learners, with a catalog spanning illustration, design, photography, video, writing, freelancing, productivity, and marketing. It suits individuals who want broad access to creative and entrepreneurial subjects rather than a single course, as well as organizations that need team administration and engagement reporting. Classes are primarily pre-recorded video lessons, with projects, project galleries, and discussion features built into the learning experience.
The published Annual membership plan costs $13.99 per user per month with annual billing and includes unlimited access to all Skillshare classes. The membership also adds offline viewing, Learning Paths, certificates, and badges. A 7-day free trial gives prospective members a short window to review the catalog and learning format before subscribing. Skillshare does not sell individual classes, so the subscription model is most suitable for learners who expect to explore multiple subjects or follow several class sequences over time.
Its main strength is breadth combined with creative practice: learners can move through curated Learning Paths, complete projects, view project galleries, and participate in class discussion boards. Web, iOS, and Android support make the catalog available across common devices, while mobile downloads support offline study. The format is less suitable for people who require live instruction, a narrow formal curriculum, or individual course purchases. Choose Skillshare for accessible, subscription-based creative learning and project-oriented exploration; consider another marketplace when live teaching or one-off class ownership is the priority.
