Our verdict on Sitewright

Sitewright is an open-source, self-hostable website platform for agencies managing multiple client projects. Its workflow centers on code-first HTML, Tailwind, and DaisyUI authoring, while clients can edit content in place through invite-based, project-scoped access. A built-in CMS supports typed datasets and detail pages, and agencies can organize work with reusable components, snippets, templates, and widgets. White-label administration, role permissions, and multilingual pages make it suited to agencies delivering branded sites across clients and locales.

Its strongest fit is for teams that want control over authoring, deployment, and the hosting environment. Sitewright supports static publishing with atomic output and incremental deployments, alongside FTP, FTPS, SFTP, and Git deployment options. The platform also connects with Anthropic, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Cursor through its AI authoring assistant and MCP endpoint. Security-oriented controls include MFA/TOTP, passkeys, OIDC SSO, and project-scoped API keys. Together, these capabilities give technically oriented agencies several ways to connect client work with existing development and deployment practices.

The trade-off is approachability. Sitewright’s code-first model is less suited to agencies seeking a primarily visual editing experience or a low-setup website workflow. Running the platform as a container also places responsibility for self-hosting with the agency. Teams that value source-level control, client editing, reusable systems, and deployment flexibility should consider Sitewright; agencies prioritizing visual-first creation or avoiding self-hosted operations should choose a different type of builder.
