SignUp.com is a web-based coordination tool for volunteer managers, teachers, team organizers, nonprofits, schools, churches, and community groups. Organizers can create volunteer jobs, shifts, appointments, and other sign-up spots, then share them through email, links, text, social media, or QR codes. Participants can sign up without an account or password, change shifts, cancel, or swap assignments. Recurring schedules, configurable email reminders, calendar syncing, embeddable calendars, participant messaging, waitlists, waivers, and custom questions support a broad range of group and event workflows.
The free Basic plan is the clearest entry point. It includes unlimited participants and SignUps, mobile-friendly pages, calendar sync and embed, automated email reminders, participant shift swapping, and one primary organizer. Starter adds unlimited text reminders, unlimited group pages, one assistant organizer per SignUp, participant spot limits, waitlist notifications, and priority email support. Plus adds five assistant organizers, participant check-in, sign-up lock and unlock, waivers, and priority email plus coaching calls. Max expands collaboration to 15 assistant organizers per SignUp and adds advanced participant-hours tracking, reporting, and custom SignUp URLs. Campus costs $99 per year and includes 150 organizer upgrades alongside advanced reporting and priority support.
SignUp.com fits groups that need straightforward scheduling rather than a heavily management-focused system. Its participant self-service tools reduce friction for public or community signups, while recurring schedules and reminders help with repeat programs. Calendar connections and integrations with Dropbox, Zoom, and Google Drive extend its usefulness around existing workflows. The main trade-off is scope: access is web-only, and the Basic plan keeps organizing to one primary organizer. Groups needing native mobile software, deeper administration, or advanced reporting without moving to a higher tier should consider a more management-oriented alternative.
