Signet review
A focused, free option for image-based signage across multiple screens.

Signet is a free, open-source digital signage platform for individuals and organizations coordinating physical displays. Its browser-based interface combines a central media library, image playlists, timeline scheduling, screen pairing, fallback content, and screen status monitoring. The documented content types are PNG, JPG, GIF, and SVG. Signet is a fit for teams that need a focused way to manage image-based content across multiple screens without adopting a paid signage platform.
Deployment can be either hosted or self-managed. The hosted version is designed for use without setup, while self-hosting places the project on the user's own Firebase infrastructure. Displays use a web browser, including configurations such as a television connected to a Raspberry Pi. PIN-based pairing gives each screen a defined connection workflow, while per-screen and global fallback content help maintain assigned visuals when scheduled content is unavailable. The responsive web interface also supports management from browser-based devices.
Signet's strength is its narrow, practical scope: image playlists, custom durations and ordering, timeline scheduling, fallback content, and live status visibility are all part of the published feature set. That makes it appropriate for menus, announcements, artwork, notices, or other still-image displays managed across a small or growing screen group. It is less suitable for organizations that need a broader media system, mobile coverage, role-based administration, API access, verified offline playback, or integrations beyond Google Firebase. Choose Signet when open-source ownership and simple image signage matter most; consider an alternative when richer content types, ecosystem connections, or advanced administration are central requirements.
