Our verdict on Selekt
Selekt is a desktop photo library and culling application for photographers working through photo shoots. It imports and organizes images, groups related frames and bursts, previews RAW and JPEG files, and supports pick, maybe, reject, and clear decisions. On-device focus, exposure, and blur scoring help prioritize review without requiring a connection, while side-by-side comparison supports decisions among similar photographs. It runs on macOS and Windows and is suited to photographers who want local culling with optional cloud assistance.
The Free plan supports unlimited imports, culling, and export, plus on-device AI scoring and grouping. It includes 100 cloud AI analyses each month, 1 GB of storage for sync and proofing, XMP sidecars, ratings, and social export. Pro costs AUD 16 per month and includes everything in Free, a higher cloud AI allowance with in-app top-ups, 10 GB of storage for sync and proofing, and priority support. This makes the free tier a substantial starting point for local workflows, while Pro is aimed at photographers who need more cloud analysis or storage.
Selekt also fits workflows that continue into Adobe Lightroom or Capture One. Exported selections, metadata, and XMP sidecars support handoff, and social export presets provide another output path.
