Secureworks Taegis XDR is a cloud-based extended detection and response platform for mid-market and enterprise security teams. It brings together telemetry from endpoint agents, cloud sources, syslog, network, authentication, DNS, and other sources for threat detection and investigation. Organizations can operate Taegis themselves or choose the separate Taegis MDR managed service. Sophos Endpoint is included with Taegis XDR subscriptions, while other endpoint security tools can remain in use.

Its open-XDR approach is a practical fit for environments with established security products: integrations include CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne, Carbon Black, AWS, and Okta. The platform adds threat intelligence, threat hunting, natural-language search across retained telemetry, reports, and dashboards. Automated actions and playbooks can isolate or restore hosts, disable or enable users, and block or unblock IPs. Windows, macOS, and Linux are supported. This breadth makes Taegis more relevant to teams that want to correlate signals across tools than to organizations looking for a point solution.

Taegis XDR is sold through contact with sales or distributors; the published pricing information does not provide public price amounts, and there is no free plan. That makes it harder to compare cost before engaging with the vendor. Sophos lists chat, phone, ticket, and documentation support, with 24/7 support. Choose Taegis if your team needs a broad, open XDR workflow and can evaluate pricing directly with the vendor. Teams seeking a self-contained endpoint tool, or a publicly priced option for quick cost comparison, may prefer an alternative.

Secureworks Taegis XDR pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Correlates endpoint, cloud, syslog, network, and authentication telemetry
    • Supports third-party tools including CrowdStrike, Defender, and SentinelOne
    • Automates host and user response through actions and playbooks
  • Where it doesn't
    • Requires a sales or distributor contact for pricing
    • Its breadth may exceed the needs of teams seeking a narrow security tool
    • Self-operated XDR requires a security team to manage detection and response
