RuM review
A focused open-source desktop tool for Declare discovery, conformance, monitoring, and filtering.

RuM is an open-source desktop application for declarative process mining with the Declare modeling language. It is designed for users who want to discover, edit, validate, monitor, and filter processes through explicit constraints rather than relying only on procedural models. The application runs as a Java JAR on Windows, Linux, and macOS, and is distributed under the GNU GPLv3 license. Its published feature set includes Declare Miner and MINERful for discovery, Declare Analyzer and Declare Replayer for conformance checking, and event-log generation in XES format.
Declare is the center of RuM's workflow. Users can edit models with data and time conditions through MP-Declare, define constraints through natural language and speech recognition with Declo, and replay event logs against Declare models for process monitoring. Log analysis includes both trace-based and event-based filtering, with 64 predefined LTL patterns for more advanced filtering. This makes RuM a strong fit for teams that need to express business rules as constraints, compare event logs with those rules, and refine declarative models within a focused desktop environment.
RuM's narrow scope is also its main boundary. The listed integration is XES, and the product is positioned around declarative discovery, conformance, monitoring, model editing, constraint definition, and filtering rather than a broad process-mining ecosystem. Its self-hosted deployment model suits users who want an open-source desktop application across Windows, Linux, or macOS. Choose RuM when Declare-based analysis and advanced constraint filtering are the priority; choose a broader process-mining system instead when wider integrations or root-cause analysis are central requirements.
RuM pros and cons
