Íris Emulator is an open-source desktop application for running Atari 2600, Atari Lynx, and Atari Jaguar games on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. It suits players who want one Windows program for three Atari systems rather than separate emulators. Its Qt-based interface, SDL2 input and audio support, OpenGL rendering, and configurable display filters give it a broad desktop feature set while keeping its focus on Atari hardware.

The standout strength is system coverage combined with practical session tools. Atari 2600 emulation supports multiple cartridge mappers, while Lynx emulation is powered by Gearlynx and Jaguar emulation by Virtual Jaguar. Ten save-state slots provide quick saving and loading, and keyboard and gamepad remapping help adapt controls to different setups. CRT, LCD, RF Cable, and S-Video filters offer several presentation styles. ROMs can be loaded by drag and drop, and the built-in game list supports cover art through TheGamesDB. Optional Discord Rich Presence and VST3 audio plugin integration extend the surrounding desktop experience.

The main trade-off is compatibility depth. The project is under active development, but Lynx and Jaguar compatibility remains incomplete, and some Lynx games require the Atari Lynx boot ROM. Íris Emulator also requires a BIOS and does not support netplay, so it is better suited to local, single-player use than connected multiplayer sessions. Its official scope is Windows 10/11 64-bit; Linux is not officially supported and macOS is unsupported. Choose Íris Emulator if you want consolidated Atari 2600, Lynx, and Jaguar emulation with save states and presentation controls on Windows. Choose an alternative if complete Lynx or Jaguar compatibility, netplay, or broader operating-system support is essential.
