Our verdict on Riffin
Riffin is a browser-based guitar tablature editor for guitarists who want to draft, hear, record, and share tab without a paid plan. Its free workspace focuses on tablature rather than broader notation, with controls for multiple guitar tunings, playback, audio demo recording, and tab sharing. Drag-and-drop rearrangement and copy-and-paste support for power chords also suit quick song development and lightweight editing.
The strongest fit is its focused workflow. Users can create and edit tabs, rearrange material, record a demo, and share tabs from the web. Playback provides a way to hear the tab, while the tuning controls support different guitar setups. An AI assistance control is also included. These features make Riffin a practical choice for guitarists who need a portable drafting tool, particularly when the priority is getting ideas into playable tab rather than producing a full notation score.
Its scope is narrower than a more comprehensive composition application. The published product details describe tablature-only notation, and the current feature set does not include broader notation or verified MIDI support. The site presents audio uploads, multitrack recording, chord diagrams, plain-text conversion, and export options as future plans rather than current capabilities. Choose Riffin for free, lightweight tab creation with playback, demos, and sharing. Guitarists who need expanded notation, established export workflows, or the listed upcoming audio and conversion features should consider a different type of tool.
