Our verdict on Relicta

Relicta is an open-source, MIT-licensed command-line tool for governing software changes before production. It is aimed at platform engineers, release managers, security teams, and organizations adopting AI-assisted delivery. The workflow covers semantic version planning from commit history, risk and blast-radius analysis, approval policies, release channels, promotion workflows, rollback tracking, release notes, and publishing through plugins. Relicta supports local and CI-based workflows across macOS, Linux, API, self-hosted, and web environments.

Its strongest distinction is the combination of release coordination and governance. Configurable approval policies and governance gates can formalize promotion decisions, while cryptographic hash-chain audit trails provide a recorded history of release activity. Supply-chain attestations using in-toto and Sigstore add provenance-oriented controls. Multi-repository coordination, semantic version planning, and AI-assisted narratives extend the workflow beyond a basic deployment trigger. The MCP server also supports AI-agent release workflows, although teams should still define appropriate approval boundaries for automated actions.
