Our verdict on Redactor
Redactor is an embeddable WYSIWYG rich text editor for websites, CMSs, SaaS products, and custom applications. Written in vanilla JavaScript, it supports HTML and structured block-based JSON content through a JavaScript API. Developers can add image uploads, URL insertion, library selection, drag-and-drop, clipboard paste, tables, video, audio, iframe, and other media embeds. React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, vanilla JavaScript, and CMS integrations make it suitable for teams building a self-hosted editing experience into an existing product.
Pricing is organized around a paid Core license and optional suites. Redactor Core costs $399 as a one-time annual purchase and includes standard plugins, one year of updates, full source code, unlimited developers, and unlimited domains. Redactor Core Lifetime costs $2,799 and changes the update term to lifetime. Assistant Suite and Editorial Suite each cost $699, while Email Suite costs $699; each requires a separate Core license.
