Rapla is open-source software for scheduling rooms, people, equipment and events. It is suited to universities, schools, hospitals, gyms and seminar houses that need resource calendars, reservation management and availability views. Month, week and day calendars sit alongside specialized scheduling views, while configurable resource, person and event types support different planning structures. Recurring appointments can include exceptions, and resource requests, double-booking conflict detection and permissions help coordinate shared use.

The published product details show a free model with standalone and client-server desktop operation on Windows, macOS and Linux. Storage can use a file or database, giving organizations a choice between a simpler standalone arrangement and a multi-user deployment. Exchange and iCal are listed integrations, and users can export calendars to PDF and iCal. Email notifications are sent when a resource is allocated. These capabilities make Rapla a practical fit where scheduling clarity, reservation control and desktop availability matter more than a broad enterprise planning stack.

Rapla’s focus is narrower than full resource management software. It provides daily planning granularity, calendars, permissions and conflict handling, but does not provide verified capacity planning, workload management, skills matching or scenario planning. Rapla 2 is the stable release; Rapla 3 is developing a browser application, GraphQL API and modern server, with an alpha planned for October 2026. Choose Rapla for free, open-source desktop resource calendars and event scheduling. Organizations that need deeper workforce planning, skills-based allocation or scenario modeling should choose a different resource-management system.
