Our verdict on RadianceKit
RadianceKit is a native macOS desktop app for turning photos, videos, 360-degree media, and panoramic captures into 3D Gaussian-splat scenes. It is aimed at solo creators and small teams using Apple Silicon Macs who want local processing instead of a cloud workflow. The app aligns cameras with Apple Photogrammetry, trains scenes with Metal, and provides Simple and Expert modes for different levels of control. An interactive viewport supports selection and brush-based scene editing.
The published purchase terms show one Full version plan at US$7.99 as a one-time payment after a three-day trial. The official site notes that App Store prices vary by region. RadianceKit requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later and an Apple Silicon Mac, beginning with M1 hardware. Training controls and live loss curves make the processing stage inspectable, while local execution keeps source media on the desktop workflow. There is no separate recurring tier described.
RadianceKit’s strongest fit is exploratory Gaussian-splat work: it imports common image and video formats, accepts panoramic media, and exports PLY, Compressed PLY, SPZ, glTF, .splat, SOG, transforms.json, and a COLMAP workspace. It can also create orbit videos and self-contained HTML viewers for sharing scenes. However, its scope is narrower than general 3D scanning software because it centers on splat reconstruction rather than polygon meshes or point clouds. Buyers needing real-time capture, scanner hardware integration, API access, or mesh-focused workflows should choose a tool built around those capabilities instead.
