A low-cost bookkeeping option with invoicing, VAT filing and accountant tools.

QuickFile is cloud bookkeeping and accounting software for small businesses, with mobile apps and an API alongside its web platform. Its combination of transaction management, invoicing, VAT reporting and accountant client tools makes it relevant to UK microbusinesses and accountants handling multiple small-business books. Businesses can import transactions from supported Open Banking feeds or upload bank statements, then use tagging rules to categorize matching transactions and reconcile accounts. Mobile apps support receipt capture, and the product also keeps customer and supplier records and provides financial reporting.
The published plans show a Free (XS) tier with up to 200 ledger entries, while paid account sizes from S to XL are listed at £60 + VAT per year. Automated Bank Feeds are a separate optional feature at £15 + VAT per year, so businesses should account for that extra charge if they want connected feeds rather than relying on uploads. The paid size bands have differing feature entitlements. This makes the free tier a possible starting point for very small books, while growing businesses should check which paid account size fits their needs before choosing.
For day-to-day UK bookkeeping, QuickFile brings together invoice and estimate creation, purchase records, receipt storage, bank reconciliation and VAT return submission to HMRC. Multiple currencies are supported for sales, purchases and bank accounts. Its stated ecosystem includes Companies House, HMRC, PayPal, SumUp, Dropbox, GoCardless, Zapier, BrightPay and eBay Managed Payments, with 400 integrations overall. Accountant access through QuickFile Affinity is a particular fit for practices managing multiple client profiles. The main constraint is its narrowness for businesses that need inventory tracking, which is not included. Choose it for affordable small-business books and accountant workflows; businesses requiring inventory management should consider an alternative.
