Quick Share review
A free way to transfer files locally between nearby Android, Windows, and Chromebook devices.

Quick Share is a free, nearby file-transfer tool for people moving photos, videos, documents, links, and other files between compatible devices. It is built into Android devices and Chromebooks, while the Quick Share app supports transfers between Android devices and Windows PCs. That makes it a fit for personal or small-team transfers across those device types, rather than a general-purpose cloud sharing service.
Its core workflow keeps the exchange device to device: transfers can happen without an internet connection, and users can set device visibility to control who can discover and send files. Recipients receive files in Receive mode and can accept or decline transfer requests. A QR code can also be generated for a recipient to scan. These options suit nearby handoffs where the sender and recipient can coordinate directly, but they do not replace a hosted link when the recipient is elsewhere or needs later access.
The product's scope is its main trade-off. Quick Share does not provide cloud file hosting, storage plans, or public file links, so teams that need persistent shared folders or remote access should choose a cloud file-sharing alternative. Documentation is the listed support channel. Quick Share also supports sharing with iPhones in supported circumstances, though its central positioning is transfers among nearby Android devices, Windows PCs, and Chromebooks. Choose it for direct local exchanges across those platforms; look elsewhere when file hosting and link-based collaboration are requirements.
