QAD DynaSys Production Planning helps manufacturers create feasible production plans across multiple sites while accounting for capacity, materials, labor, skills, tools and shelf life. It is aimed at mid-market and enterprise organizations with complex, dynamic production environments. Its focus is manufacturing planning rather than consumer-goods retail execution or order capture, so companies seeking those workflows should look elsewhere.

The planning workbenches bring projected inventory, equipment utilization and bottlenecks into view. Finite-capacity planning can reflect material, labor, skill and tool constraints, while what-if simulation lets planners examine proposed changes to capacity, run rate, efficiency and demand plans. The product supports several planning approaches, including APS/MRPII, Kanban and theory of constraints. Supply plans and scenarios can feed S&OP/IBP processes, and allocation rules can prioritize market segments, customers, revenue or margin, or demand type. Shelf-life and lot tracking add specificity to inventory planning, while available-to-promise, capable-to-promise and order-to-promise calculations support order commitments.

QAD DynaSys can be used standalone or as part of QAD’s broader Digital Supply Chain Planning suite, and it integrates with ERP, PLM and MES systems. Named integrations include QAD, SAP, Sage, JDE, Oracle, Infor and Microsoft. Deployment is described as cloud or self-hosted in the product details, although the older datasheet cited in product information establishes QAD Cloud and web and mobile interfaces rather than native iOS or Android apps or self-hosted deployment. According to the vendor’s pricing page, a demo is offered instead of public prices; there is no free plan. Choose it when constrained, multi-site production planning is central and your organization can engage sales. It is a less suitable fit for retail-facing consumer-goods workflows.

QAD DynaSys Production Planning pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Plans across sites while accounting for material, labor, skill and tool constraints
    • What-if simulation explores changes to capacity, run rate, efficiency and demand
    • Tracks shelf life and lots, with ERP, PLM and MES integration
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing requires contacting sales; no free plan is offered
    • Manufacturing production planning, not retail execution or order capture
    • Mobile interfaces are described, but native iOS or Android apps are not established
